The title says it all...I'm finally finished with my student teaching experience! Even though this week was hard for me and my students, I just reminded them that this is not a "goodbye" that I will still be teaching in their school system and they can come by my classroom anytime they wanted to. When I told them this, a sense of joy and comfort showed on their face and just by seeing that definitely made this weeks rating a 5. I am happy to say that I accepted a job offer in my school teaching 7th grade math. I am super excited to start this job next week and just see where God takes me throughout this career path that I have chosen! This week was a little hectic, but all in all a great week. The first part of the week I was given the opportunity to teach the class that I am taking over next week. This allowed for me to get a feel for the students and get to learn them a little before I start on Monday. When doing this, it was a little challenging to involve differenti...

1 more week!

Well...we made it, it’s finally spring break! I can’t believe I’ve already complete 9 full weeks of student teaching. But, with that being said, I only have 1 more week left! I rate this week a 5, it was filled with emotions, memories, and laughs with my students that I will remember forever and I couldn’t have thought of a better way to wind down my teaching experience.  My goals this week were to complete everything needed for my portfolio and just make memories with my students because I’ve felt like this whole experience I have just been trying to get work done for school, so I’m now glad I got everything finished and I can just spend time with my students this last week.  For Standard 1, I showed leadership in my classroom by analyzing the data that I took up this week to better improve my lessons for the next day. I was also able to collaborate with other teachers form my grade level to better improve what we are teaching our students.  For Standard 2, ...

I can see the light at the end of the tunnel

This week was definitely a week to remember. My students were great all week, I got my edTPA scores back and passed, and I am getting closer to completing my final weeks of student teaching. I was definitely living the life this week, and there’s only one week standing in between me and spring break, and I think that I am more ready for it than my students. I rate this week a 5 out of 5, it was a great week and everything went smoothly. My long term goal for this coming week is to get everything in place and ready to present my portfolio. I have been working to get everything organized and turned in for my portfolio, but I am determined to get everything together this week. My short term goal is to start my lesson plans early that way I have everything organized for the week after spring break! For Standard 1, I was able to show leadership in my grade level meeting. We met with two employees from our county office who came to talk to us about the different FAL’s (Formative Assessme...

Spring Time is the Craziest Time

This week was crazy, from the students coming back from a long weekend, to practicing tornado drills, and students just ready for spring break. I think it’s safe to say I’m right there with them. Going into my 8th week of student teaching, gets me more and more excited for the real world because it’s quickly approaching. This week my goals are to prepare everyday for the next days of lesson, keep collecting artifacts for my portfolio, and get prepared for the final weeks! For Standard 1, I exhibited this standard this week by leading in my classroom. In my classroom I am responsible for what students learn and the content that I teach to them. I also create a safe and orderly environment for my students to learn in. By doing this it allows my students to feel more comfortable and absorb the content more effectively. For Standard 2, I always establish a safe and respectful environment for my students. I create a positive, respectful, and nurturing relationship with my students. By...

Almost finished!!

I can’t believe I’m going into week 7 already! Student teaching is definitely going by quickly and I am feeling both excited and nervous about what is going to happen when it’s all over! I would rate this week a 4 out of 5. This week was very rewarding, all my students understood what I was teaching and it showed through the test that they took at the end of the week.  My short term goal for this week is to get everything planned for next week. We had 2 work days this week and I was able to get everything planned and ready to go for next week. During 1 of those workdays all the middle school teachers in Rutherford County met at the Highschool and had a Professional development day. This was very beneficial to me to see how a professional development day worked and I was able to learn a lot about my school system.  My long term goal for this week is to finish collecting my data and get everything together to complete my portfolio.  I exhibited Standard 1, during...

NO MORE EDTPA

PRAISE THE LORD is all I can say when I read the title of this blog. I am so glad that this week is over and gone, that edTPA was the most stressful and tedious thing I ever had to deal with. But, since it is over and done with now that just means we are THAT much closer to graduation!! I would rate this week a 2. It was very stressful, I was still recovering from being sick, I don't think my lesson plans were the greatest, and having to spend every spare moment I had on edTPA was exhausting. On the bright side though, I am enjoying everything there is about student teaching in my school and absolutely love my placement, I really can't complain! I was able to exhibit Standard 1a, teachers lead in their classrooms. I am going into my 6th week of student teacher and my CE has been nothing short of totally supportive. She has totally entrusted me in taking over her classroom for these past 6 weeks and it is a very rewarding feeling to know that not only my CE but my school tru...

On to the next week

This week was nothing short of chaotic. From lessons not going how I planned, to at the end of the week me ending up sick, I will definitely rate this week as a 2. It was a productive week, and the students got ample opportunities and time to understand the different concepts but, I can definitely say I'm ready for next week to get here! This week we were supposed to end it by doing a project, but I noticed during the different lessons that I was teaching that some of the students did not understand the materials so it took some extra days to go back over it and make sure every student got it. But, this coming week I think that the students are more confident and we will hopefully get to the project by the end of this week and they are so excited about it! This week was really hectic with being out for 2 days because of a virus, missing edTPA boot camp day, and being so unmotivated to do anything because of my sickness that I have gotten so behind! I am so behind in work, it...
