1 more week!

Well...we made it, it’s finally spring break! I can’t believe I’ve already complete 9 full weeks of student teaching. But, with that being said, I only have 1 more week left! I rate this week a 5, it was filled with emotions, memories, and laughs with my students that I will remember forever and I couldn’t have thought of a better way to wind down my teaching experience.

My goals this week were to complete everything needed for my portfolio and just make memories with my students because I’ve felt like this whole experience I have just been trying to get work done for school, so I’m now glad I got everything finished and I can just spend time with my students this last week.

For Standard 1, I showed leadership in my classroom by analyzing the data that I took up this week to better improve my lessons for the next day. I was also able to collaborate with other teachers form my grade level to better improve what we are teaching our students.

For Standard 2, I treat all my students as individuals every day they walk through my door. I maintain high expectations for each student and push them to be the best they can be. I also build positive and appropriate relationships with each individual in my classroom.

For Standard 3, I align each of lessons with the NCSCOS.

For Standard 4, I integrates technology this week by making my students collaborate with each other and research 5 mountains outside of the US and they were required to tell me the slope of the mountain they chose, where it’s located, and 2 fun facts about it. This allowed them to see that what they were learning in class not only affects them, but is also used globally.

For Standard 5, I went through my lesson plans and reflected on which things worked and did not work for my students.

I’m so ready for this next week because I will have ample amount of time to get my portfolio finished and relax. I hope everyone had a great week and a Happy Easter! :)

  1. Alanna,
Congratulations on finishing 9 full weeks!! It is crazy how fast this time has flown by. I agree, I want to spend more time making memories with my students. So far, it has been all work and stress than those relationship have suffered. I like your mountain activity. We never did anything like that in math, but relating concepts to real life is what makes the content more meaningful.
I hope you have a fabulous break!!
