Spring Time is the Craziest Time
This week was crazy, from the students coming back from a long weekend, to practicing tornado drills, and students just ready for spring break. I think it’s safe to say I’m right there with them. Going into my 8th week of student teaching, gets me more and more excited for the real world because it’s quickly approaching.
This week my goals are to prepare everyday for the next days of lesson, keep collecting artifacts for my portfolio, and get prepared for the final weeks!
For Standard 1, I exhibited this standard this week by leading in my classroom. In my classroom I am responsible for what students learn and the content that I teach to them. I also create a safe and orderly environment for my students to learn in. By doing this it allows my students to feel more comfortable and absorb the content more effectively.
For Standard 2, I always establish a safe and respectful environment for my students. I create a positive, respectful, and nurturing relationship with my students. By doing this students are more adherent to listening to me when I am teaching them and they take in what I say to them more effectively.
For Standard 3, this week my 7th graders started learning 8th grade materials so I had to practice this standard rigorously. Only getting a couple of hours of sleep some night because I had to go back and relearn the content that I was going to teach my students this week. But, I am so glad I did because it not only benefit me but also my students.
For Standard 4, this week I was able to integrate technology within the classroom. I told the students that they were going on a trip to 5 different places and they were required to figure out how much it cost to fly to the different places. I gave them an equation and they had to plug the cost into the equation and the output that they got told them how many miles they traveled. By doing this it allowed for them to see math practiced in their everyday lives and they also really enjoyed this activity!
For standard 5, at the end of the week I sit down with my CE and reflect on how I think the week went. By doing this I am able to see different areas where I can improve and also areas I did great in.
I hope everyone has a great next week!!!

Spring break is quickly approaching and I am so ready! I know once we get back from spring break, the rest of our time in the classroom will fly by. Sometimes, I really can't believe we've made it to this point. It's so exciting! It sounds like you are doing great things in your class. You will be a great teacher! Have a great week!
