First Full Week!!!!

Well, I can finally say it....I made it through my first FULL week of student teaching. Between the snow and all the holidays, I never thought we would ever go a full week of school. But, I can tell you one thing I am after this week and that is exhausted, between grading, getting lesson plans together, and getting prepared for each lesson before hand...I am so ready for the weekend.  Overall I would rate this week a 4, it was a great week altogether my lessons went smoothly and all of my students understood the content I was teaching but it was also a frustrating week with MAP Testing coming up and we are behind pacing so trying to do all of that has really been a hectic situation. On Monday I will be starting my first full week of teaching all 3 of my classes and I’m so ready to jump into the actual student teaching process.  For Standard 1, I was able to once again attend our weekly PLC meeting but this time, I was able to give my input and put in my thoughts about...

Craziest Week Ever

This week was one word....CRAZY! With no school on Monday, and being slammed with snow Wednesday, Thursday, and Friday we only got one full day of instruction which put our plans WAY behind, but all we can do is work with what we got. Since we only got one full day of instruction I did take advantage of it and was able to assist a lot during my 1st and 3rd blocks and teach my 2nd block for the entire period of the time. Starting Monday I will be taking over 1st and 2nd block which are both my 7th grade Plus classes so I am really excited to jump into this process and being so close to starting my 10 weeks of student teaching. Overall I would rate this week a 2.5, it wasn't too too bad but it also was not the best week. With all this testing approaching and us already being behind with the pacing, it's really frustrating that we are having all these school days out. But, if I learned one thing so far in student teaching it is you just have to go with things sometimes, nothing ...

Week 2...what is sleep?

So we've all endured 2 weeks of student teaching (YAY!), even though it was a fun and rewarding first two weeks I can't WAIT for the weekend to get here!!! I always knew that this would be a hardworking and tiring profession to go into, but I never thought I could ever be this tired... This week was one word...hectic. From getting out of school early on Monday to having no school on Tuesday trying to catch everything up is a stressful job. This week school was the last things on my students minds, with the inclement weather, no school, and a three day weekend coming up, it was definitely a struggle to get them to focus during class. On another note, I would rate my overall experience this week a 5 (great week). I rate my week this because this was the first week I actually got to take over a class! A stream of emotions came over me right before it was my turn to teach, but once I got up there my students made me feel so comfortable and suddenly all the nervousness wore off wh...

Week 1 of Student Teaching

Oh my goodness, I can't believe it's already time for student teaching! I never thought this day would come, however when I reflect back on this week and how far I've come in my journey and how much I have learned throughout my whole teaching experience here at GWU I realize how happy I am that I chose this career path. This past week was the first week of student teaching after a much needed Christmas break. The first week went by really fast being only a 4 day week, but I enjoyed every second of it. Overall, I give this week a 5 out of 5 (Great Week), I assisted my CE with her lessons throughout the week. She would randomly ask me to grade things, pass out papers, help students work out problems, and even walk them to lunch. This really surprised me, but I am also relieved that she is trusting me more and gradually letting me take responsibility for things in the classroom. While I was helping the students solve some of the problems that they had, afterwards I would ref...
