Week 3 has come and gone already...
I can't believe week 3 has already come and gone! I feel like we just started this whole student teaching process and to think we are already going into week 4 is CRAZY!! I would rate this week a 3, with edTPA, fire drills, hectic schedules, and some behavior problems in my classroom....there were definitely some roadblocks that had to be crossed, but praise God we got through the week!
This week was great! Besides some of my students having some behavior problems, the students did so well with the different concepts that they learned this week! With my first 2 classes really impressed me as we were working with Triangles and Quadrilaterals. This is the last Module that they will complete before diving into 8th grade material and they are doing great with it! This week we had a PD with the Discovery Place Educational Studio. The Discovery Place Educational Study came out about 4 months prior and they picked up right where they left off in October.
My short term goal for this week is to keep working on my edTPA tasks. I have gotten behind lately due to family issues and lack of time management, but I am ready to get focused on completing these things just in time to prepare for the workday we have coming up on Friday.
This week I exhibited Standard 1b, teachers demonstrate leadership in the school. I did this by actively engaging in the PD this week. We were able to come up with strategies and refine some thoughts to improve student learning.
I exhibited Standard 2c, teachers treat students as individuals. I did this by letting each student voice their opinion on how they got to the correct answers. This allowed each one of my students to be listened to and have their opinion be taken into account. Some of the students came up with new ways to solve the problems and they were able to share those ideas with the class. It was awesome to see how each students mind works differently.
I exhibited Standard 3a, teachers align their instruction to NCSCOS. As I planned out my lesson for this upcoming week, I aligned my plans to the NCSCOS.
I exhibited Standard 4b, teachers plan instruction appropriate for their students. I did this by collaborating with my CE and other 7th grade math teachers. I was also able to go out of my content area and collaborate with the teachers on my team that teach science, social studies, and english to get some tips from them on how to integrate their content area into math.
I exhibited Standard 5a, teachers analyze student learning. I did this buy analyzing the progress and comprehension of my students everyday and adjusting the next days lesson plans based on the data.
